TCA6408PWG4 Application Field and Working Principle

The TCA6408PWG4 is a 3.3V I2C/SMBus CMOS I/O Expander with 8 I/O ports and integrated voltage translators. It is used to interface with different levels allowing the use of voltage levels up to 5.5V and lower. This part has very low power consumption of only 119 µA, with the general purpose pins held de-energized when not being used, and 1.25mΩ output pin drivers.

The TCA6408PWG4 comes in an ultra-thin Quad Flat Non-Leaded package (UQFN-16) and is designed to monitor, control and reduce the power consumed by the system. It is designed to operate over the temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. The TCA6408PWG4 contains an I2C/SMBus serial interface with an 8-bit I/O port, 32 bit address counter and SDA, SCL pins. It features interrupt capability, allowing the user to detect up to 8 GPIO changes, enabling the system to make decisions based on device inputs.
