PMIC - AC DC Converters, Offline Switchers
The TEA1733T/N1,118 is an AC/DC switch-mode power supply with an integrated PFC (Power Factor Correction) stage and quasi-resonant controller IC, specifically designed to replace linear metal oxide varistor (MOV) based designs. It includes full protection, such as overload and over-temperature protection, as well as multiple input voltage selections.
The TEA1733T/N1,118 provides one or two outputs, with a maximum output current of 118A. It has a wide input voltage range, improved PF and a standby current down to 7mA. It is compatible with NEMA, IEC60320 and other international standards, and the output power is adjustable via external resistors.
The TEA1733T/N1,118 is suitable for general purpose switching applications such as LED lighting, set top boxes, chargers, computer power supply, annunciators and ATX PC power supplies. It also compliant with safety standards such as IEC62368 and UL1310.
Working Principle
The working principle of the TEA1733T/N1,118 AC/DC switch-mode power supply is based on the design of a quasiresonant (QR) converter, which is composed of a Power Factor Correction (PFC) stage followed by a Controlled On-Demand (COD) primary stage.
The PFC Boost stage accepts a wide input voltage range AC supply and converts it into a regulated high DC voltage. This DC voltage is then used to feed the QR primary stage. The primary stage is designed to operate at a switching frequency which is dependent on the output voltage. The QR primary stage also uses a special current mode control to produce high power with low levels of switching losses.
The power is then fed to the secondary stage, where the output voltage is regulated and protected. The secondary stage also includes a constant current output and a power fail signal output. The TEA1733T/N1,118 also provides an optional forced continuous conduction mode (FCCM) operation which makes it suitable for a wide range of output currents.
