This decrease in voltage results in a decrease in the voltage across the MOSFET, which eventually causes the MOSFET to switch off. This breaks the circuit and stops the flow of current.4. The stored energy in the transformer now transfers to the secondary winding, in a higher voltage. This higher output voltage is then rectified, filtered, and regulated to arrive at the desired output voltage. 5. The process is then repeated for the next cycle. The TEN 40-2434 is designed to have a minimum stress on its components. To achieve this, it uses a soft switching scheme. Instead of directly switching the MOSFET off, a discharge period is observed. During this period, a secondary winding is used to slowly discharge the energy stored in the transformer core and to reduce the voltage across the primary winding to zero, before the MOSFET is switched off. This helps in increasing the life of the components. In addition to its built-in protection circuitry, the device also has several other features which make it suitable for many applications. The device is designed to be used in an open frame (without additional shielding), has no galvanic isolation, and features an adjustable output voltage that can be set up to 24V DC.
