。The TISP4290L3AJR-S is a thyristor which is an unidirectional or bidirectional control device widely used in the electrical industry. Also known as a silicon controlled rectifier (SCR) or a silicon control switch (SCS), a thyristor controls current flow depending on the current state of its two control circuits. It works best when used in circuit designs where it theoretically will not be subject to failure due to voltage transients.
The TISP4290L3AJR-S is a very robust thyristor, designed to survive withstanding voltages up to 3.5kV peak, with a minimum fusing current (IF) of 3.0A. The device is commonly used for applocations such as phase control of high power DC and AC, unidirectional circuit control, AC snubber circuits, lighting control, protection and interface control. It can be used in relays, phase control circuits and power switching circuits. It has a high speed switching time of under 30ns.
As with other thyristors, the TISP4290L3AJR-S operates based on the three-state principle of turn-on, holding and turn-off. This three-stage action is achieved by triggering the device with an external current source. Once the turn-on state is reached, the thyristor stays latched indefinitely until it is turned off again either by the original current source or a commutating current. This feature of the thyristor eliminates the need for a separate latch circuit.
The two external pins of the TISP4290L3AJR-S are referred to as the "gate" and the "anode". When a gate current is applied, the two terminals of the thyristor are joined and the current in the circuit is allowed to flow. When the gate current is removed, the device switches off. The turn-on behavior of the thyristor is largely determined by the current and voltage applied to the gate.
For reliability purposes, the TISP4290L3AJR-S is constructed using multiple layers of heavy insulation, such that its power dissipation and maximum junction temperature dimensions would ensure its prolonged lifetime and optimal operation.
