This reverse bias applies the necessary voltage for the breakdown phenomenon to occur in the diode. Once the switching state of the device is reached, the device will remain in this state until the applied voltage has dropped below the breakdown voltage. At this point, the diode of the TISP61521DR-S will begin to “recover” to its initial OFF-state. Through the cycle of switching and recovery, the TISP61521DR-S can be used as an effective current switch for high current load switching applications.
