The TLC7524IFN is a 3.3 V Single channel 14-bit voltage output Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) capable of providing up to 4MHz data update rates and excellent linearity performance. This device offers higher signal-to-noise ratio, improved power-supply rejection, and lower power dissipation than earlier DAC designs. This allows for more precise signal conversion enabling improved performance in a wider range of applications.

Working Principle
The TLC7524IFN is a resistor string DAC that converts digital input words into analog outputs. The device utilizes a resistive string ladder network of fourteen resistors connected between the reference voltage and ground. An individual transistor is associated with each resistor tap on the ladder. The digital inputs determine the active output tap. Whenever a digital input code changes, the corresponding transistor turns on or off to adjust the output voltage.
The DAC output voltage is proportional to the applied reference voltage. The TLC7524IFN supports both Unipolar and bipolar outputs resulting in excellent linearity performance. The device features low voltage supply operation from 2.7 V to 3.6 V, low input voltage swing operation from 0.3 V to 3.3 V, and low power dissipation. The device also features internal short-circuit protection and power-on reset.
The device features an internal circuitry that minimizes DC offsets and kinks in the DAC transfer function. Additionally, the TLC7524IFN includes a power on reset feature that sets all DAC outputs to a common value when power is applied. This feature eliminates the need for external components during power up or power down.

The TLC7524IFN makes it easier to design low-noise, low-slope converter applications with better noise and distortion characteristics than what is possible with traditional resistor string DACs.
