It includes a configurable watchdog timer, temperature and voltage monitors, a soft-start control circuit, and an adjustable undervoltage lockout. The IC uses a linear current limit technology, with a wide adjustable current limit from five milliamps to dozens of amperes allowing multiple circuits to be protected.
When an abnormal condition is detected, the IC detects the increased current by comparing it to the adjustable current limit, and then adjusts the voltage accordingly until it reaches the desired level. Additionally, the TLC7705IPWR can protect the circuit by shutting down the converter if the maximum current limit is exceeded.
