Solid state relays (SSRs) are specialized devices which act as a switch, controlling an electrical power circuit they are connected to. SSRs use optoelectronics as a means to switch on/off an electrical circuit from a control signal by using the output of a light emitting diode (LED). The required protection of the SSR is provided by the optically isolated triac, which must be rated for the same current as the SSR.
