TLP748J(D4,F) Working Principle
The TLP748J(D4,F) comprises a GaAlAs infrared LED and an opto-MOSFET IC in a surface-mount package. The LED and photodiode are optically coupled so that the LED can be used to control the MOSFET even with high-voltage isolation between the input and output.
The opto-MOSFET features a low on-state resistance (RDS(ON)) which is ideal for driving load under low-power conditions. To ensure the best electrical performance, a trimming resistor is incorporated into the opto-MOSFET to allow adjustment of the on-state resistance.
In operation, the LED is switched on by applying a forward voltage to one of the leads, allowing current to flow through the opto-diode. This current triggers the MOSFET, switching on the other lead and allowing current to flow through the load. The LED is switched off by reversing the voltages, and the circuit is interrupted.
