The TLV320AIC14EVM application filed and working principle is an evaluation and demonstration board and kit that facilitates development of audio and voice systems on the Texas Instruments TLV320AIC3x integrated audio codec family of products. The EVM kit includes components necessary for the evaluation and development of audio and voice applications. The kit contains: an EVM circuit board, TI TLV320AIC3x audio codec, power supply, analog and digital audio cables and connectors, microphone and loudspeaker—all designed to make evaluation and development of applications fast and easy.

The TLV320AIC14EVM supports low- and mid-range performance analog audio codecs with 2 to 8 channels, digital signal processing cores, multiple universal audio serial ports, along with integrated power management, analog and digital microphone inputs, and a low-pin count serial control interface (SPI). The EVM board includes a 32-bit processor with low-level DSP library, TLV320AIC3x codecs, power regulators, A/V ports, and gain alteration feature. TheTLV320AIC14EVM hardware and software solution can be configured to create low-power audio applications which require minimal development time enabling customers to realize the benefits of the audio codec family early in their design.

The working principle of the TLV320AIC14EVM evaluation and demonstration kit is to use the TLV320AIC3x audio codec family and provide the required hardware for the evaluation and development process. The basic operation of theapplication comprises of these steps:

1. Input channel data from an analog or digital audio source.
2. The TLV320AIC3x audio codec IP (intellectual property) processes the data accordingly.
3. The same data is routed to the output channels for playback.

The TLV320AIC14EVM board has a single power supply that supplies power to the TLV320AIC3x audio codecs. The power supply also provides power to the microcontroller that handles audio codec communication. The EVM board also contains three power rails required by the digital audio codecs – 1.2V, 1.8V, and 3.3V. A second set of power rails is needed for the analog audio circuits – 5V and 3.3V. These power rails are provided by the power management IC, the LDOs, the amplifiers, and the ADC/DACs.

The EVM has a breakout connector which provides direct access to the Microcontroller and TLV320AIC3x audio codecs. The Microcontroller can be programmed using the board\'s USB interface.The EVM board also used an XDS100-class debug probe for debugging applications that use the TI C2000 processor family.

The TLV320AIC14EVM offers excellent signal-to-noise ratio and low THD+N, making it an ideal solution for audio and voice applications. The board can be used by customers to evaluate and develop their own audio and voice systems applications. The kit includes a software stack which provides a set of audio codecs, audio filters, low-level audio controls, DSP, and more.
