The Texas Instruments TLV320AIC20IPFBR is a highly integrated, low-power, stereo audio Codec designed especially for portable digital audio applications. It contains two channels of audio decode with eight analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), two channels of digital-to-analog converters (DACs) and a digital signal processor (DSP).
The TLV320AIC20IPFBR has a wide variety of features including sample rate for data rates from 8 kHz to 48 kHz, selectable line gain, multi-format audio data compression (MPEG Layer-1, Layer-2 and AAC), stereo headphone driver output and other features that are particularly suitable for portable digital audio applications. As a low-power, low-cost device, it is suitable for consumer applications such as audio players, portable CD players, car stereos and other consumer audio products.
The TLV320AIC20IPFBR operates as an interface between digital data streams, such as audio in digital distribution formats, and consumer audio devices. The Codec can perform audio encoding, decoding, mixing and audio processing functions. It converts analog audio data into digital data and processes the digital data before outputting it to the consumer audio device. In addition, the Codec can receive and process audio data streams, such as those encoded by MP3 or AAC, and converters them into audio analog signals.
The interface between digital data and the Codec is provided by a digital CODEC, which is used to communicate sound and audio data between the digital interface and the consumer audio device. The CODEC contains various types of control and audio filters, and provides various functions including buffering and gain control.
The TLV320AIC20IPFBR provides two separate channels for audio input and output. Each of these channels is linked to one analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and one digital-to-analog converter (DAC).
