TLV320AIC26EVM Application Field and Working PrincipleThe Texas Instruments TLV320AIC26EVM evaluation and demonstration board and kit is designed as an application field for audio and voice codecs for testing and prototyping applications. It is also referred to as the AIC26 Universal EVM for short. This board and kit allows designers and engineers to quickly and easily evaluate and compare the features of the TLV320AIC26 family of digital audio codecs while also enabling them to quickly create their own prototypes. The EVM provides the hardware and software tools needed to run pre-loaded software examples and configurations or design an application from scratch with the provided board.TLV320AIC26EVM consists of two PC boards and several jumpers and other components. The primary board contains the TLV320AIC26 codec, which is essentially a multi-bit digital audio signal processor. The codec processes digital audio in dual-channel, 16-bit PCM format. It is built on a 16-bit linear PCM architecture and enables the user to record, playback, and mix digital audio. This codecs supports both synchronous and asynchronous digital audio and can be used in both audio and voice applications.The secondary control board contains power components, a microcontroller, and several interfacing ports. The microcontroller serves as the main platform for program management, and enables the EVM to interpret the user’s commands. It also controls the power and potentiometer settings. The ports on this board enable connectivity, and include three stereo headers for interfacing with the codec, two USB type A ports, two External Memory Interface (EMIF) parts, a serial output port (SOP), an RS-485 port, and a debug port.The TLV320AIC26EVM also contains numerous jumpers to bring power to different components, or to enable/disable features. It also contains potentiometers for controlling the gain level of the analog input and output channels. Lastly, it contains several LEDs to indicate power, activity, and possible errors.TLV320AIC26EVM is designed to provide flexibility and scalability to allow engineers the most efficient route to design their own applications. This is evidenced by the ability to program the EVM using different programming environments such as C Language, .NET, Visual Basic, Microchip\'s MPLAB C Language compiler, and others.TLV320AIC26EVM is optimized for processing audio and voice applications. Given the various specifications and configurations required to work with different audio and voice protocols, this EVM helps engineers and designers quickly configure settings for different protocols and profiles. It can also be used to create multiple audio and voice sources and output combinations from basic analog input and output to networked audio and voice. The TLV320AIC26EVM also provides the tools for creating customized digital signal processing algorithms, such as signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) algorithms, non-linear place value filtering, and adaptive noise cancellation, to name a few.Another benefit of the TLV320AIC26EVM board is the ease of use in creating applications for different operating systems. This board is designed to work with a variety of operating systems such as Linux, Windows, Mac OS, and Android.
