TLZ20D-GS18 diodes offer maximum operating temperature of 125°C and operating temperature range of -55°C to 85°C, which makes them suitable for a wide range of applications.Application Field
TLZ20D-GS18 diodes are ideal for use in precision voltage regulation, low-noise signal conditioning, low-power voltage regulation, switching applications, and feedback control circuit stabilization. These diodes can also be used in audio and video signal transmission systems, which require damping of high-frequency noise, as well as automotive applications that require protection against electrical noise. Moreover, these diodes are also commonly used in battery operated electronic equipment, consumer electronic devices, automotive electronics and portable electronic devices, such as mobile phones, digital cameras, and PDAs.Working Principle
TLZ20D-GS18 diodes use reverse biasing of the junction of the diode in order to regulate the voltage levels. Reverse biasing of a diode results in an increase in the applied electric field, which in turn increases the electric potential barrier of the junction.In the TLZ20D-GS18 diode, the electric field is increased by the applied voltage exceeding the avalanche breakdown threshold of the diode. This results in current flowing through the diode and the diode acting like a closed switch. This closed switch acts to limit the voltage levels on an AC or DC supply line. The diode achieves voltage regulation by limiting the voltage to the Zener voltage, which is the reverse breakdown voltage of the junction. The Zener voltage is determined by the material of the Zener diode, which can be adjusted by temperature. The Zener voltage of a TLZ20D-GS18 diode is typically 24.9V. When the applied voltage exceeds this level, the diode will act as a closed switch and limit the voltage to the Zener voltage.Conclusion
