The TMA140-LQI-09T is a dual output ultra-low quiescent current, high efficiency linear regulator designed for embedded applications and microcontrollers. With an adjustable output voltage from 1.8 to 5.5V, it provides excellent dynamic load regulation of 0.8mV for an output current of 1A. It is capable of powering a wide range of consumer and industrial devices, including smartphones, tablet PCs, televisions, gaming consoles, set-top boxes, home appliances and industrial systems.The TMA140-LQI-09T utilizes a long-tail mosfet and a switching control IC to provide extremely efficient energy conversion, with efficiency ratings as high as 96%. The device also features a wide input voltage range (6V to 20V) and low quiescent current of only 1μA. It also has thermal shutoff protection which protects the circuit from thermal overload.The TMA140-LQI-09T is specially designed for embedded applications and microcontrollers. The current-mirror circuit and adaptive feedback voltage control in the device further optimize the power conversion.In the linear portion of the device, the load current is compared to the reference current expressed in the corresponding small-signal voltage. The error voltage is amplified by an error amplifier, and then the error voltage is fed back to control the gate-source voltage of the long-tail Mosfet to regulate the output.For the switching part, two control circuits are embedded into the device, one for low voltage and one for high voltage. These two integrated control circuits can ensure that the electricity is not wasted and that the efficiency of the conversion is maximized.
