1. Describe

The TPD4E001DPKR is a quad-channel transient voltage electrostatic discharge based suppressor (TVS) (ESD) protection diode array. The TPD4E001DPKR is rated for maximum ESD shock dissipation as specified in the IEC 61000-4-2 International Standard (Class 4). The device features 1.5pF of IO capacitance per channel, making it ideal for high-speed data IO interfaces. Ultra-low leakage current (< 1 nA max) for precision analog measurements in applications such as blood glucose meters and heart rate monitors. The TPD4E001DPKR is available in DRL (SOT), DBV (SOT23), DCK (SC-70), DRS (QFN) and DPK (PUSON) packages and is specified for –40°C to +85°C operation. These devices offer higher IEC protection, lower capacitance, lower clamping voltage, and eliminate input capacitance requirements.

6. Function Description

The TPD4E001DPKR is a low capacitance unidirectional ESD protection device. The device is used with a Central ESD clamp with two hidden diodes per line to reduce capacitive loading. This central ESD clamp is also connected to VCC, providing protection for the VCC line. The dissipative ESD rating of each IO line exceeds the maximum level specified in the IEC 61000-4-2 Level 4 international standard. The low load capacitance of the TPD4E001DPKR makes it ideal for protecting high-speed signal terminals.

7. Application Information

The TPD4E001DPKR is a diode array type transient voltage suppressor (TVS) typically used to provide dissipative HMI connectors and systems. When current from the ESD passes through the TVS, only a small voltage drop occurs across the diode. This is the voltage supplied to the protected IC. A low RDYN that triggers TVS maintains this voltage, VCLAMP, to a tolerable level for the protected IC.
