The TPS2300IPWR is a power management integrated circuit (PMIC) with hot swap controllers from Texas Instruments. It is designed for wide range of applications from secondary side power control and sequencing to device protection in devices such as servers, routers, and switches. The TPS2300IPWR devices include a highly integrated hot-swap controller, active phase droop, over-current protection, over-temperature protection, and sequencing controllers. It is specifically designed to provide a wide range of adjustable parameters and customizable power management schemes to support the most demanding power requirements.

The TPS2300IPWR reduces the complexity and cost of the power management system by integrating many of the components and resources necessary for an effective hot-swap system. It is capable of safely controlling the power delivery of high peak current applications with current thresholds adjustable up to 50A. Its wide operating range from 5 V to 52 V and low quiescent current of less than 400 nA make it suitable for most industrial applications.

The TPS2300IPWR contains two separately adjustable active phase droops with current reporting. This allows for improved power delivery efficiency and better use of available power for higher load current conditions. The device also features adjustable over-current and over-temperature protection features, eliminating the need for external crowbars and allowing the system to be protected from faults in the same devices. In addition, the device includes sequencing control with adjustable power-up and power-down ramp times and adjustable setup and hold times, providing flexibility in power sequencing requirements.

The TPS2300IPWR is designed to minimize board space and ease system design by integrating all the required resources necessary to implement a hot-swap system in one device. It includes a Clamp and Abort pin, which senses a high impedance abnormality and can be used to directly abort the system when necessary. The device also includes two configurable timer timers and two configurable debounce timers that allow for varying hot-swap parameters and can be used to assist in implementing power sequencing.

The TPS2300IPWR also features Enhanced Fault Current Limiting (EFCL) mode, allowing for increased system efficiency and improved dynamic load response. In EFCL mode, the device senses the load current and actively limits the current supplied to the system. This reduces power dissipation and allows for a more consistent and reliable system with improved response time and current delivery.
