The integrated power MOSFET allows for harmonic distortion characteristics that meet FCC and CISPR requirements. The device is capable of sensing an input error condition (undervoltage, overvoltage, |OV|), and will shut down the MOSFET for a fixed time interval upon detecting a fault condition.The TPS2301IPWR is designed specifically to limit inrush current and minimize damage to components during a hot swap insertion. Upon insertion, the device allows a current limited ramp up to the output voltage, to reduce the inrush current. This ramp up is controlled by an adjustable V_Inrush pin. The device further includes an adder control, which allows the user to control the voltage rise rate during ramp up, as well as to adjust the input voltage level at which the device shuts down.In order to ensure maximum reliability, the TPS2301IPWR has several protection features including temperature-controlled shutdown and auto-restart, set by a temperature monitor pin. The device also features open load detection and optional current limit sensing, enabling fast detection and protection of an overloaded condition.The TPS2301IPWR is designed to maximize design efficiency and reduce design complexity and system cost. The integrated power MOSFET eliminates the need for an external power MOSFET, which helps to reduce board space, cost and complexity.
