Working Principle

The TPS2413PWR works as an OR Controller – Ideal Diode and controls the input voltage from a source of alternating current (AC). In order to provide the necessary feedback, the TPS2413PWR works in conjunction with voltage feedback resistors connected to the output terminal. When the input voltage is at its nominal level, the TPS2413PWR operates in normal and outputs the full output current. However, when the input voltage is above the allowed level, the IC will automatically force the output to ground, thus ensuring the system does not over-volt. This is known as the OR Controller’s “ideal diode” behaviour.

The system’s P-Channel MOSFET and output current fault detection also helps in making sure that the power consumption is kept in check. This enables efficient current sensing and detection of a bad output or overload. Additionally, it prevents the IC from being overloaded, thereby increasing its overall efficiency. Additionally, the external voltage feedback resistors also helps in providing reliable operation.

The TPS2413PWR also employs a logic control circuit which allows the user to manually set the turn-on and turn-off delay times. This helps the users in controlling the start-up and shut down times of the IC and prevents unsafe conditions which could lead to damage. Furthermore, the circuit also utilizes an adjustable voltage level shift which assists in ensuring smooth transition between supply voltages.
