Power Management Integrated Circuit (PMIC) is widely used in various designs ranging from automotive applications to numerous industrial ones. It is usually used in any design where power needs to be regulated in its usage, monitored and optimized with each usage, and safely provided based on conditions. PMICs are invariably used in any design - big or small - to provide controlled, efficient and safe power delivery. One specific power controller in the PMIC category is the Hot Swap Controllers.

The Hot Swap Controllers are typically used in applications where in power sharing or control is required between two devices. An example of this is a microprocessor controlling multiple peripheral devices.
