TPS24750RUVR is an adjustable voltage hot swap controller. It is a part of the PMIC - Hot Swap Controllers, and it is designed to safely limit inrush and output current inboards, equipment and systems during hot plugging and board bring-up events while not impacting the specified circuit performance and remaining system robustness.

Working Principle

When an external load is connected to the output of TPS24750RUVR, the current ramp generator is activated to give a controlled rise in output voltage. The hot-swap controller then uses the current limit, voltage limit and status pins to monitor all the possible conditions of the system and take proper corrective action. The TPS24750RUVR limits the output current through a linear current limitation circuit, known as Current Regulate Mode (CRM). When the load current rises above the programmed peak current limit, the output voltage begins to drop linearly. During this phase, the load current is regulated to the current limit level. The integrated Phase-Loss Detection (PLD) circuit monitors the current sense resistor for any phase losses, however, if the phase loss occurs, then the controller enters the fault mode protection.Once the output voltage exceeds the set voltage limit, the TPS24750RUVR enters the on-state. The output voltage is regulated at the programmed level. The overvoltage protection ensures that the voltage does not exceed the programmed voltage level. The undervoltage protection ensures that voltage does not go below the set voltage level.
