PMIC supervisors are designed with circuitries and algorithms to monitor the functioning of a given electronic system and to protect it from over- and undervoltage, over- and underpower, over- and undertemperature, and other hazardous conditions. The TPS3813K33MDBVREP is an automotive qualified, adjustable low voltage supervisor available in an extremely small, LLP, 5-lead package, ideal for advanced automotive safety systems that require minimum board space. This supervisor is designed to monitor an input voltage and issue an active-low RESET signal if the input voltage (VIN) goes below the programmed threshold voltage VT. The TPS3813K33MDBVREP is manufactured in the advanced submicron, CMOS process and features an adjustable minimum reset threshold of 2.12V to 4.38V.
The TPS3813K33MDBVREP is suitable for applications such as advanced engine management, LED light and lamp control, smart home appliances, and input voltage control for automotive systems in electric vehicle applications. Furthermore, this supervisors\' very low standby current of 0.09µA (typical) and low power supply current of 0.12µA (typical) make this product suitable for battery or cell-phone operated systems and any other low power systems that require a reset signal.
The TPS3813K33MDBVREP has an internal precision voltage reference trimmed to ±1.5% accuracy and robust hysteresis of 160mV (typical) which ensures accurate reset threshold and prevents multiple reset signals due to noise and ripple. The reset signal is highly noise-immune and requires less than 50us delay time(tDEL) to stop and less than 1.7ms to start giving an accuracy of ±10% over temperature range, both of which contribute to the robustness of the device. The reset signal is an active low signal and it stays low until the supply voltage rises above the reset threshold voltage.
In addition, by using the TPS3813K33MDBVREP supervisors\' open drain RESET pin, both logic and power systems can be reset with one external pull-up resistor connected from the RESET output to VDD. The supervisor can be programmed externally using the SET pin voltage such that the desired reset threshold voltage can be set precisely between 2.12V to 4.38V. The device also features an active low RESET flag (RESETF) that can be used to read the status of the RESET output. This active low RESET flag goes high once the supply voltage drops below the VT threshold, reflecting the active low RESET state.
The device also has a RESET time-out feature that can be enabled by controlling the configuration pin (CONF) high. This feature is used to allow a high reset time-out period (TOFF) greater than 600ms before the device re-activates the RESET signal. This RESET time-out feature is useful for applications such as battery monitoring in which the controlled system is expected to go through a long power down cycle.
