The TPS76518DG4 is a low-power, low-dropout (LDO) linear voltage regulator specifically designed to provide a highly efficient power source, to allow more energy saving in battery systems. It is designed to provide a low quiescent current, low dropout voltage, and features high accuracy over line, load, and temperature. The TPS76518DG4 is available in an extremely small 1 mm x 2 mm, CSP (1.4 mm maximum height) package with an operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.

The TPS76518DG4 is well suited for wide range of applications requiring a low-noise power source. These applications include a variety of electronic devices such as portable medical instruments, monitors, wrist watches and automotive instrumentation. It is also used in such applications such as LCD displays, digital audio players, thermostats and pagers.

The TPS76518DG4 is based on a proprietary dynamic biasing concept which enables low quiescent current, extremely low dropout voltage, and high PSRR, while being operable with a tiny ceramic capacitor. It also has an internal operating point tracking and the capability to reduce temperature-drift for higher accuracy over a wide range of temperature.

The TPS76518DG4’s output voltage is adjusted using an external resistive divider. It is factory trimmed during production process, which ensures a high accuracy at the nominal output voltage. It takes up to 1 µA of input bias current at the nominal VIN, which is lower than the traditional LDO\'s.

The TPS76518DG4 provides a wide range of input voltage, from 2.6 V to 10 V and maximum output current of 225 mA. The output voltage is adjusted by connecting an external resistor divider to the FB pin. A proper resistor divider can be easily calculated with an online tool. The output voltage can be set to between 1.25 V and 5.0 V with an accuracy of ± 1.5% derivative of the output voltage over the maximum line, load and temperature ranges.

Due to its low input current, low dropout voltage and wide voltage range, the TPS76518DG4 is an ideal choice for battery-powered applications. Its very low quiescent current ensures the device wakes up quickly from shutdown, and its very low dropout voltage allows it to keep the output voltage very close to the input voltage. The TPS76518DG4 can also be configured with an enable pin, in the form of a voltage monitoring circuit (VMC), for improved power saving capability.

The TPS76518DG4 contains several protection features such as over-temperature protection and overload protection, which makes it suitable for a wide range of applications. The device also supports secondary protection functions such as UVLO, positive thermal coefficient (PTC), reverse current protection, and short-circuit protection.

The TPS76518DG4 meets the requirements of the ISO-7637 and the CISPR-25 standards. It is also available in the lead-free, RoHS compliant package.
