The TRF3703-17EVM is an evaluation and development kit for Texas Instruments\' TRF3703 4G/LTE/WCDMA/GSM/EDGE RF Front-End Transceiver. The kit provides a comprehensive platform for developing, testing, and evaluating a wide range of applications, including cellular communications, RF power amplifiers, automotive communications, and medical applications. The TRF3703-17EVM comes with several features designed to help system designers rapidly integrate, prototype, and evaluate the Transceiver. It provides voltage regulator components and filter components for power supply connections, four different transmit and receive signal paths currently built with standard SMA antenna connectors, and a wide voltage input range of 7 V to 16 V. The evaluation board also includes an integrated PCB antenna that is especially useful for low-power applications such as home healthcare, medical, and automotive use cases. The kit includes an onboard debugger with a USB-SPI or USB-I2C interface, allowing designers to debug the TRF3703. The board also comes with stacks of demodulation reference signal and support software, allowing users to easily generate suitable test signals for their application. The signal analyzer kit provides graphical real-time visualization of RF signals. The kit also includes a renewable header as well as several building blocks for additional applications. The transceiver is powered using a pin header that supplies a voltage range of 7 V to 16 V, providing a wide input voltage window for rapid prototyping and evaluation. The integrated circuit contains a high linearity low noise amplifier (LNA), an RF switch, an RF transceiver, a power amplifier (PA) driver, a transmit power detector (TPD) and an ultra low power sleep mode synchronous down converter (SDC), as well as additional features such as a direct up convertor (DUC), a receive power detector (RPD) and a low phase noise synthesizer (LPS). The LNA provides extremely high linearity and provides gain of up to 21 dB with minimal noise. This makes the transceiver ideal for applications requiring wide bandwidths and superior linearity, such as digital radio. The RF switch provides a low insertion loss of less than 0.1 dB and low parasitic input/output capacitance. The switch is capable of switching between two antennas simultaneously, which is useful for applications where multiple antennas are required. In addition, the switch can be used to quickly switch between a standard SMA antenna and a PCB antenna, which is especially useful for low-power applications. The RF transceiver supports up to 4G/LTE/WCDMA/GSM/EDGE protocols. It provides up to 50 MHz of bandwidth and a linearity performance of up to -48 dBm. The transceiver also supports multi-antenna configurations, allowing it to be used in applications where multiple receive antennas are required. The PA driver incorporates the latest process nodes, providing extremely low noise and high linearity for flawless RF performance. The onboard regulator can support a wide range of power supply voltages (from 5 V to 16 V), allowing for rapid prototyping in a wide range of applications. The TPD monitors transmit power levels, allowing designers to instantly monitor and adjust critical parameters such as IMD (third-order intercept) and linearity. The TPD also provides a wide range of adjustable parameters, such as the Reference Voltages. The SDC provides an ultra-low power sleep mode for the transceiver, ensuring that the circuit consumes minimal power and is ready to wake up quickly. The SDC also reduces the size and complexity of the board, making prototyping easier and faster. The DUC, RPD and LPS also provide a wide range of features and adjustable parameters, making the TRF3703-17EVM a highly versatile development platform. The DUC provides a direct up conversion of the received signal, providing excellent performance in terms of linearity and bandwidth. The RPD provides a robust solution for monitoring downlink power levels. Finally, the LPS provides an ultra-low noise synthesizer, ideal for applications requiring low phase noise performance.
