The TS862AIPT is a linear-comparator circuit with an open-collector output stage. It is used to compare two voltages and drive an output to indicate when one voltage is greater than the other. This makes it ideal for detecting and actuating upon a range of voltage-based preconditioned signals. The TS862AIPT comes in a SOIC-8 package and has a wide operating voltage range from 2.7 V to 5.5 V.

The circuit of the TS862AIPT can be divided into two distinct sub-circuits: a Signal Input Comparator and an Output Stage. The Signal Input Comparator compares two input signals and produces a logical 1 or 0 at its output. The comparison happens when one of the inputs, named VIN+, exceeds the voltage present at the other input, named VIN-.

The output stage of the TS862AIPT drives an open-collector transistor to operate with maximum flexibility and low power; it provides is a low resistance with a high current driving capability. Also, the inverted output option allows a way to invert the logic of the output signal before it is transmitted downstream. This is useful in applications where the circuitry downstream the TS862AIPT requires a logic reversal of the output.
