Working Principle of 50C260JB-G

The 50C260JB-G operates by blocking and diverting dangerously high levels of transient voltage away from sensitive components. During normal operation the 50C260JB-G remains a non-conducting device; however, when a transient voltage threshold is exceeded, the TVS diode acts as a low-impedance path that limits and diverts the surge energy away from sensitive components. When a surge is applied to the 50C260JB-G, it will pass the surge energy to ground, thus offering protection to the sensitive components.

The 50C260JB-G has a breakdown voltage of 28V and a maximum clamping voltage of 38.5V. It can meet the requirements of IEC 61000-4-2 (level 2, 15KV contact discharge) for ESD protection. It is also available in a 8-pin SOP or dual-in-line package, allowing for adequate board space and easy installation. The 50C260JB-G is capable of peak pulse power dissipation of 500W (tP=10/1000 μs) and a maximum peak pulse current of 12A.
