Working Principle:

The TZX3V6B-TAP Zener diode is designed to work as a voltage regulator or clamping device in many circuits. It is designed to rectify, or conduct current from one side of a circuit to another. In the case of Zener diodes, when the voltage reaches the Zener breakdown voltage, current is conducted in the reverse direction of usual diode operation. This prevents the voltage from exceeding the breakdown voltage and also allows current to be applied to the diode under specific predetermined conditions. When the predetermined breakdown voltage is exceeded, the diode conducts current in reverse direction, allowing current to flow through the diode.

This diodes series is enhanced with the TAP technology which economically requires smaller size, while providing higher secondary breakdown voltages. The TAP technology also drastically increases the temperature coefficient of the Zener voltage by utilizing two or more Zener diodes in series. The TAP series is specifically designed for applications where high temperature operation is expected and the secondary breakdown voltage ranges from 3V to 27V.

The package includes a plastic sleeve, allowing it to be used in a variety of applications, ranging from simple rectifiers and clamps to complex power supplies. The standard package also includes heat transfer which facilitates its efficient dissipation of high power and heat generated when in operation.
