UC2578DPTR is an advanced high-performance voltage mode DC-DC controller IC. It features a current mode control scheme, which provides high output dynamic characteristics, improved transient response and fast current limit. UC2578DPTR operates with a wide input voltage range, accepting both positive and negative voltage ranges. It is suitable for high frequency Step-Down applications.

Application Field

The UC2578DPTR is most suitable for a wide range of adjustable power supply applications such as telecom, industrial, computer and consumer electronics. It is especially useful in high-accuracy constant voltage and constant-current power converter applications with high-frequency low ripple requirement. Working Principle

The UC2578DPTR can be operated in both current mode control and voltage mode control mode. When in current mode control, the device senses the current flowing through an external sense resistor and provides an ON or OFF condition of the control signal to the active switch. When in voltage mode control, the device regulates the output voltage by sensing the output voltage and providing an ON or OFF condition of the control signal to the active switch.

The UC2578DPTR also includes internal leading-edge blanking, adjustable current limit, fixed frequency internal oscillator, and adjustable output soft-start. The driver has a programmable turn-on and turn-off time which can be adjusted by an external capacitor. The device also provides a power-good output signal that indicates whether the output voltage is in regulation or not.

The UC2578DPTR has a maximum peak current control of 5A and a maximum output voltage of 20V. It is designed to operate over a wide input voltage range from 6V to 16V and is capable of handling up to 19V without damaging the device. It is also capable of operating at frequencies up to 1 MHz.
