Linear Voltage Regulators, or simply voltage regualtors, are a type of PMIC, or Power Management and Control Integrated Circuit, that provides a stable output voltage from an unregulated, or unstable, input voltage. They are mostly used to convert a high input voltage to a lower output voltage, but they can also be used to provide a constant voltage in the face of varying input voltage or current, known as a linear regulator or constant-voltage regulator.
