UC3871NG4 is an integrated, fixed frequency, current mode controller primarily for off line power supply and lighting applications. It provides the necessary features to control the active PFC, half bridge/ full bridge topologies and boost power factor converters. Additionally it offers superior performance in applications up to 1 MHz .Current mode controlled systems provide fast transient response to sudden step changes in line and load, have an inherent line and load feed-forward of system stability, and have excellent line and load regulation characteristics due to automatic current limit control. The UC3871NG4 utilizes an auxillary winding for power factor correction and monitoring, and is designed to operate from a wide input voltage range and provide a programmable voltage control and current limit.
The UC3871NG4 features one cell level current mode controller with integrated startup control logic, and low on resistance power switches to supply power to ballasts. Its monolithic construction provides a cost effective solution compared to two or three cell system solution. It is a cost effective, reliable, and efficient design suitable for various lighting and ballast control applications. It provides regulation and critical soft start functions with system protection.
