The UCC2810NG4 is an integrated controller and driver designed for off-line flyback converters. It comprises a line frequency oscillator, a moderate-performance voltage regulator, internal start-up circuits, overload protection circuitry, power-good flagship output, and more. The UCC2810NG4 is one of the first generation of devices that uses peak current mode control. It uses a combined cycle-by-cycle current limit with an averaged peak current limit to provide accurate and fast current limiting at start-up and thereafter. It also features an internally self-biased high-gain error amplifier, a hybrid drive output circuit with optimised turn-off response, and an optically-isolated reset in the standard IC package. 

The application field of UCC2810NG4 includes medium to high power AC-DC converters that offer mains input voltage, surge protection, peak current sensing through an integrated high voltage current sense amplifier, and high-voltage secondary side switch drive with an output current capability of up to 6A. The off-line switcher allows for wide input voltage ranges from 85V to 310V and output voltage ranges from 0V to 250V. 

The working principle of UCC2810NG4 is based on peak current mode control circuit. The peak current mode control circuit consists of a main regulation loop composed of an internal voltage error amplifier, a pulse-width modulation control block, a current level detection comparator, and a slope compensation block. Voltage regulation is achieved by comparing the sensed peak current to the reference voltage. The voltage error amplifier is used to sense and monitor the environmental conditions such as output voltage, voltage drop over the catch diode, primary winding current, etc. During the normal operating condition, the slope compensation block is used to keep the peak current amplitude to a maximum level. When an overload condition is detected, the peak current amplitude is reduced in order to prevent any excessive current. 

The UCC2810NG4 is a switching regulator power integrated device (PMIC) with a variety of useful features, optimised for off-line, high-power AC-DC converter and offline switcher applications. With its integrated voltage error amplifier, current level detection, and internal start-up circuitry, the device offers excellent performance in both line and load regulation. Its internal hybrid driver allows for fast turn-off response times and optimised energy efficiency, while its optically isolated reset provides improved system reliability.
