The UCC28700 EVM-068 (Evaluation Module) board is a versatile tool designed to evaluate and demonstrate the functionality of the UCC28700 off-line quasi-resonant regulator for DC/DC and AC/DC applications. This board comes equipped with a variety of components, including a power supply controller, voltage references, and a low-side gate driver with bootstrap circuit.The UCC28700 EVM-068 evaluation module is designed for use in low-power DC/DC switching applications, as well as in AC/DC switching power supplies. It provides the necessary circuitry for properly evaluating the UCC28700 controller, optimizing control loop parameters, and verifying power factor correction (PFC) performance. In addition, the module facilitates the evaluation of the controller’s built-in advanced caging/soft-start and loop-delay control features.The UCC28700 EVM-068 uses a PFC single-ended topology and a quasi-resonant controller based on the UCC28700. It is capable of operating up to an input voltage of 85 VDC and a wide range of power levels up to 20 W. The board’s main components include the UCC28700 controller, a bootstrap power supply, an active loop-delay circuit, and a low-side gate driver.The UCC28700 EVM-068 includes two output voltages, one adjustable from 0.7 V to 15 V, and the other adjustable from 0.75 V to 6 V. Both outputs are rated up to 3 A and have short-circuit protection. The built-in advanced caging/soft-start feature ensures an efficient start-up, as well as a smooth transition once the output reaches its regulation point. The module also incorporates a loop-delay circuit to ensure proper start-up, stability, and EMI performance.The UCC28700 EVM-068 also features a dual-mode control, which allows it to operate in either continuous-conduction mode (CCM) or discontinuous-conduction mode (DCM). This feature ensures the highest efficiency and improved EMI performance.
