UCC28720EVM-212 application field and working principle
The UCC28720EVM-212 is ideal for developing, evaluating, and optimizing cost-effective AC/DC and DC/DC applications with medium- to high-power requirements. The UCC28720 controller is designed to facilitate high-frequency, high-efficiency, low-ripple regulation. Its features, such as active valley switching, a fast transient response, line compensation, and synchronization, make it suitable for wide-ranging ac and dc applications.
The UCC28720 digital controller operates by using primary-side regulation technology. This technology eliminates the need for a coupled control loop using an opto-isolator, allowing the power supply to be simplified and enhanced. Through primary-side regulation, the UCC28720 can sense the output voltage and use the information to accurately control the power supply without needing an opto-isolator as the feedback element.
By using a valley switch on the primary side, the controller quickly responds and accurately regulates the output voltage in both constant voltage and constant current modes. The Fast Transient Response feature also helps in quickly compensating for output voltage drops.
