The UCC2972PW is a lighting and ballast controller with integrated power MOSFET transistors that provide current regulation for high brightness lamps, ballasts, and other energy efficient applications. Its architecture provides low voltage, low current active power regulation with over-current shutdown protection and over-voltage protection which helps the user to efficiently and cost effectivly control the power supply of each light point. The UCC2972PW can be used to control multiple types of PWM and analog dimming lighting systems including high-power spots, linear fluorescent, and high-power incandescent lamps.

The UCC2972PW has three integrated control channels that can be used to control fluorescent and/or incandescent lamps. Each of the three control channels consists of two high- and low-side power MOSFETs that are optimized for low-cost light bulb applications. These enable high-efficiency, bi-directional, low and high power regulation of light bulbs and ballasts. A single external 5V voltage source is all that’s needed for operation of the UCC2972PW, so the user can save on added peripheral components, easily leverage existing power supply design, and reduce overall system complexity.
