The UCC3570DTRG4 is a high-efficiency, zero-voltage-switching, off-line switching regulator controller with minimum external components. It is a member of Texas Instruments’ family of precision energy-saving products, which are designed for cost-sensitive applications like printer, fax, copiers, and LCD monitors. The UCC3570DTRG4 uses a patented pulse frequency modulation (PWM) control type switched regulator, to reduce the heat dissipation of the power supply and increase reliability.
Application Field
The UCC3570DTRG4 provides a high efficiency and low cost energy-efficient solution for a wide variety of off-line applications. It offers superior electrical performance for high current, tabletop, and portable printer and copier power supplies. Additionally, UCC3570DTRG4 can be used in applications such as LCD monitors, digital cameras, telecommunication and other devices requiring a high efficiency and low power consumption. Additionally, the device is ideal for applications that require single-supply operation because it contains an integrated startup circuit.
Working Principle
The working principle of the UCC3570DTRG4 off-line switching regulator is based on its patented pulse frequency modulation (PFM) technique. This patented PFM control type of switched regulator uses an input voltage source, a voltage regulator subsystem and a startup circuit to provide a high efficiency output from its single-supply operation. It utilizes a synchronous rectifier architecture, which can provide up to 300kHz of frequency of operation. It also has an input voltage range of up to 300V. It has a low EMI bleed that facilitates EMI compliancy.
The UCC3570DTRG4 utilizes peak current control for output voltage regulation. The peak current is sensed and regulated in order to maintain a constant voltage output. Additionally, it has an adjustable supply voltage hold off providing an externally pin selectable power supply turn-on delay. It also contains protection features such as output over-voltage and under-voltage protection, over-current protection and thermal protection.
The UCC3570DTRG4 off-line switching regulator employs an automatic frequency compensation technique to accurately achieve the desired output voltage over a wide operating temperature range and line voltage variations. It includes an automatic self-start-up sequencing and power saving shutdown control.
The UCC3570DTRG4 has a very diverse application range, which includes tabletop printers, portable printers, LCD monitors, digital cameras, telecommunication applications and other devices requiring a high-efficiency, low power consumption solution.
