UCC3804DTR: Application Field and Working Principle
UCC3804DTR is an energy-efficient, low-cost offline AC/DC switching controller IC that uses a fixed-frequency peak current mode (FCM) control technique to deliver excellent power factor, no load power and low output current ripple. This IC is ideal for offline converters in power supply applications such as mobile phone chargers, consumer electronics, and Internet of Things (IoT) applications. This article will discuss the application field and working principle of UCC3804DTR.Application Field:
UCC3804DTR is designed to reduce power loss in high-efficiency, low-cost AC/DC switching converters. Due to its peak current mode (FCM) control technique, the UCC3804DTR provides excellent power factor, no load power and low output current ripple. It is widely used for applications including mobile phone chargers, consumer electronics, desktop monitors, PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD (PCB) mounting systems, networking equipment, and other small power appliances.Working Principle:
The UCC3804DTR uses a fixed-frequency peak current mode (FCM) control technique to control AC-DC converters. This FCM technique actively adjusts the peak current of the power switch that is provided to control the output power of the system. Additionally, it also controls the output voltage by adjusting the duty cycle.During startup, the UCC3804DTR initializes the peak current to the maximum value and then decreases it to the desired value based on the feedback signals from the internal error amplifier and the output voltage sensing feedback. The peak current is maintained by comparing it with a reference voltage provided by an internal bandgap reference generator. Once the peak current has been set to the desired value, the current will automatically be adjusted based on the load conditions. Moreover, the UCC3804DTR also utilizes a fixed-frequency frequency modulation technique for controlling the switching frequency. This technique actively adjusts the switching frequency of the power switch based on the output voltage feedback signals. The frequency modulation technique ensures that there is low EMI noise produced from the converter when the system is under certain load conditions. To maximize safety, the UCC 3804DTR also features two auto-restart techniques. This allows the system to restart under different types of fault protection, such as over-voltage, under-voltage, over-temperature, and over-current protection. Thus, it prevents the system from malfunctioning in extreme environmental and electrical conditions. Conclusion:
UCC3804DTR is an energy-efficient, low-cost offline AC/DC switching controller IC that uses a fixed-frequency peak current mode (FCM) control technique to deliver excellent power factor, no load power and low output current ripple. It is ideal for offline converters in applications such as mobile phone chargers, consumer electronics, and Internet of Things (IoT) applications. It utilizes a fixed-frequency peak current mode (FCM) control technique to control AC-DC converters, as well as a frequency modulation technique for controlling the switching frequency. Moreover, two auto-restart techniques allow the system to restart under different types of fault protection. The specific data is subject to PDF, and the above content is for reference
