IntroductionUCC3809N-1G4 is an integrated offline switcher controller used in Poly-Phase Multi-Output (PMO) applications as well as off-line switchers used in standby and no-load applications. It is a single-channel integrated system for monitoring, control and protection functions in multiple output non-isolated ac-dc or dc-dc converter applications. The product contains a special composite voltage mode error amplifier providing a wide input supply range, low-ratio synchronization feature and precision current sensing. The full protection feature of the product provides robust protection of the system against over-voltage, over-current, short-circuit and open-load conditions. Additionally, incorporating safety features such as over-voltage protection and short circuit protection, UCC3809N-1G4 is designed to minimize design risk and/or safety risks.
UCC3809N-1G4 Application Field:
In standby and no-load applications, UCC3809N-1G4 controller is suitable for controlling applications such as ac adapters, off-line lighting, home or industrial appliances, and consumer electronic equipment. The device can also be used for multiple output non-isolated ac-dc or dc-dc converter applications in consumer, industrial, or medical applications. The wide input supply range and low-ratio synchronization feature make the device suitable for poly-phase applications including wired communications (e.g. home, office and industrial networks) and high-end consumer applications (e.g. LED lighting, games, Internet of Things). The precision current sensing feature enables accurate current measurements for input over-current, output over-current and short-circuit protection.
UCC3809N-1G4 Working Principle:
The UCC3809N-1G4 controller provides a high level of integration and excellent system protection features by combining the features of a low-ratio synchronization voltage mode control system and a voltage mode feed forward current sensing architecture. The core control system of UCC3809N-1G4 is a voltage mode feed-forward system which measures the direct current flow in the output port of the converter and controls the input voltage to provide a constant current. The composite error amplifier provides high-quality, almost pulse-width-modulated (PWM) type control for both voltage and current, achieving excellent line and load regulation and fast transient performance. The over-voltage protection includes the shut down and warning functions which are activated when the primary output voltage is reaching a preset reference value. The over-current protection is activated when the output current is higher than the preset level. The low impedance Voltage Reference Generator (VRG) monitors the output voltage and adjusts the reference voltage for the UVLO circuit according to the input supply voltage level, minimizing any variation of the UVLO threshold voltage. The over-temperature protection (OTP) and output short circuit protection (SCP) circuits provide a fully protected operation of the converter and are independent of the main control circuitry.
