Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors

Aluminum electrolytic capacitors (also known as aluminium electrolytic or capacitor blocks) are devices that are used to store energy due to their ability to retain an electrical charge. It consists of a metal oxide film (anodized aluminum) and two electrodes, an anode and a cathode. The anode is usually aluminum that has been exposed to an electrolytic process to form an insulating film on its surface. This film acts as the dielectric, or the insulating material between the two electrodes.The electrodes are connected to a conducting element which allows the passage of electric current. The components of the capacitor are then submerged in an electrolyte solution which facilitates the ionic exchange of electrons between the anode and the cathode.
