Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors

An aluminum electrolytic capacitor, also called an aluminum-in-foil capacitor, consists of two metal plates with a layer of porous metal oxide between them. The dielectric is the metal oxide layer, which is formed by a process called electrolysis. The metal oxide layer acts like a barrier that allows only certain frequencies of electrical energy to pass through.
