The UFT20120A is a rectifier diode array from the Uni-Directional Transil family (Transient Voltage Suppressors, TVS). It is designed to protect electronic circuits from ESD (electrostatic discharge) or EFT (electrical fast transients) events, electrical overstress, voltage transients induced by inductive load switching and lightning strikes. This rectifier diode array has its minimum breakdown voltage range at 20 V and maximum at 200 V, with peak pulse power of 600 Watts. Its reverse stand-off voltage is also 20 V.
UFT20120A rectifier diode array works by clamping transient voltages that exceed their threshold. It is composed of diodes in a two-terminal configuration that is usable over a wide range of currents. The device provides bidirectional ESD protection over a wide range of voltage and current levels to guard against damage to today’s high data rate and sensitive semiconductor components. It responds in a very short time to a disruptive surge, limiting the voltage across its terminals.
The UFT20120A can also be used for industrial, commercial and medical applications. Its ultraslim packaging provides an unprecedented integration level in EMI (ElectroMagnetic Interference) protection and limiting of voltage transients. The reverse current leakage is very low in its off-state capacitance (C=0.6pF @ 4V) and off-state resistance (R=5MΩ). Moreover, the device’s operation range is from -65°C to +150°C.
The UFT20120A rectifier diode array offers protection at rated volts density against ESD (IEC61000-4-2) at 8 kV (air), 8 kV (contact) and can survive repetitive high-energy transients up to 40 A (tp=10/1000 μs). In applications such as audio-video equipment, healthcare equipment, industrial equipment, and telecommunications it can protect the equipment and systems, helping them perform better and with greater reliability.
Its superior performance over conventional discrete packages makes the UFT20120A a reliable choice for protection from ESD and transient voltages events. It is specially designed for Automotive as well as other industrial applications. It can be used for increasing the protection of any 1-line or 2-line transmission and data line, along with providing protection for general-purpose, audio and telecom end-products.
The working principle of a rectifier diode array can be simplified to a voltage dependent switch, which constricts current to only flow in one direction when the voltage is above a certain threshold. This diode array is designed to be a reliable, very low capacitance transient voltage suppressing diode. It works by clamping transient voltages that exceed their breakdown voltage.
A rectifier diode array is typically used in protection circuits and secondary power conversion circuits, such as TVS circuits. It has a reverse breakdown voltage of less than 200 volts, as well as a peak power dissipation of 600 W. The device also features high off-state capacitance, low capacitive leakage and a low reverse current. It has a reverse leakage current of 5mA at 250V.
The UFT20120A rectifier diode array offers robust protection against dangerous transients and ESD events. It is a cost effective solution when it comes to transient voltage protection and is generally suitable for applications requiring UL certification. It is available in a variety of packages and with varying pin-outs to suit a broad range of applications and environmental conditions.
In summary, the UFT20120A rectifier diode array can be used to protect against ESD and transient voltage events, and provides a reliable and cost effective solution when it comes to protection against EMI, transient voltages, and electrical overstress. Its low capacitance, low reverse leakage current and high power handling capabilities make it a suitable choice for protecting 1-line or 2-line transmission and data lines, as well as general-purpose, audio and telecom end-products.
