Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors, such as UHV1E101MED, are widely used in electronic applications. They are characterized by large capacitances and offer a variety of features such as high temperature stability and long-term stability. As the technology continues to improve, their performance has also been improved. The UHV1E101MED is a further enhancement of the standard aluminum electrolytic capacitor.

The aluminum electrolytic capacitor is composed of two sheets of aluminum foil that are separated by an insulating layer. The one surface of each foil is etched with an oxide layer which is an extremely effective dielectric. There is a separator between the two electrodes, normally made from paper or other fiber material. The electrolyte is a solution of a conductive acid and is soaked into the separator paper. When electricity is applied to the capacitor, charges are formed on the electrodes and the electrolyte helps to carry these charges to the other electrode.

The UHV1E101MED has a wide capacitance range from 6.3mF to 1000mF, making it suitable for various applications. It has an extended temperature range of -55°C to +105°C and has excellent stability in high temperature and frequency environments. It is also characterized by low ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) values which enable improved ripple current ratings and transient response times. Due to its high leakage current, it is particularly suitable for applications which require long shelf life such as AC Servo motors.

The UHV1E101MED is also known as a ‘super’ capacitor (also known as an ultra-capacitor or ultra-cap). This is due to its ability to store an extremely large amount of charge for its size and weight. Super capacitors are usually used in applications where long duration storage of charge is necessary, such as in backup power supplies and super-fast charging batteries.

The UHV1E101MED’s capacity to store such a large amount of power comes from its high resonate frequency performance.
