Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors, which include UMR1A470MDD, are widely used in various electronic equipment and apparatuses. Those capacitors have a wide application field and working principle. Now, how does an aluminum electrolytic capacitor work? An aluminum electrolytic capacitor consists of two layers of aluminum foil, both of which are highly conductive. One of the aluminum foils is called the anode, and it appears to have an etched "plus" sign that indicates it is the anode. The other aluminum foil is called the cathode, and it appears to have an etched "minus" sign that indicates it is the cathode. A thin layer of insulating paper or plastic is placed between the two aluminum foils. This electric double layer acts like a capacitor, storing the electric charge and then releasing it when the voltage is removed. This process has some similarities to a battery in that the electric double layer is charged up and then released when the voltage is removed.
