Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors have been designed to store and release electrical energy within the range of microseconds and milliseconds. At the same time, they offer a lightweight and maintenance-free solution for applications requiring large capacitance values with low ESR. The UPJ1C680MED1TA is a RoHS compliant aluminum electrolytic aluminum capacitor developed for automotive electronics, inverters and converters. It has a maximum capacitance of 68µF and a working voltage of 630VDC, making it perfect for custom applications.

This capacitor is encapsulated in a can-type case and is made up of two aluminum foils separated by an electrolyte. The foils are polarised, meaning one is the positive terminal and one negative. The electrolyte is a conductive liquid, such as potassium hydroxide, ethylene glycol, or propylene glycol, and when an electrical voltage is applied, an electric field forms between the foils. This causes current to flow across the dielectric and creates a charge.

The UPJ1C680MED1TA’s main applications include use as an energy storage device, surge suppression, power factor correction, motor starting, and filter frequency smoothing.
