Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are electronic components which provide electrostatic storage used in many electronic systems and circuits. These capacitors are constructed with two metallic electrodes and a dielectric material which allows current flow in between. An aluminum electrolytic capacitor, also known as a tantalum capacitor, is composed of two aluminum plates and a dielectric material. One aluminum plate is covered with porous tantalum oxide and the other is covered with an insulating layer known as an electrolyte. The two plates are connected through an insulating separator to the two capacitors terminals.
