Aluminum electrolytic capacitors (AECs) provide standard capacitors for a wide range of applications in the electronics industry. The UPW1C471MPH aluminum electrolytic capacitor is a surface-mount capacitor with an ultra-thin body and an ultra-low profile. It is designed to be used in applications with a wide range of temperatures and under high power, and is suitable for use in consumer, telecommunications, automotive, personal computers, medical, and aerospace applications.
Construction
The UPW1C471MPH aluminum electrolytic capacitor consists of a metalized aluminum foil anode with a layer of electrolyte, and a double-sided conductive polymer cathode. The anode is wrapped with an insulating film to form a dielectric layer. The cathode is then applied to the top of the anode and then wrapped with an insulating film to form the capacitor element. The capacitor element is then sealed in a hermetic case with the lead assembly soldered to a copper substrate.
Principles
Aluminum electrolytic capacitors use the principle of electrolyte between two plate electrodes to achieve a high capacitance. The electrolyte, made of aluminum oxide, acts as the dielectric material between the two plate electrodes, while the anode acts as the positive plate and the cathode acts as the negative plate. The flow of electrons between the electrodes generates an electric field, which causes the molecules of the electrolyte to move, creating a small charge on the electrodes and thus forming a capacitance.

Working principle
When voltage is applied to the capacitor, the electrons from the anode flow to the cathode, and the electrolyte between the plates produces a charge. This charge accumulates on the plates and causes an electric field between them. The electric field increases as the voltage increases, and the capacitor\'s stored energy increases exponentially, creating a high capacitance. When the voltage is removed, the stored energy is released and the capacitor returns to its original state.
