V05E17P Circuit Protection

The application field of V05E17P mainly covers ignition control boxes, positive/negative heavy-load switching, and auxiliary inductive heavy-load switching in Switchgear. In the field of circuit protection, it can be used as a lightning protection MOV (Multilayer Varistor). This type of component can also be found in motor starter, frequency converter, and other common industrial electronics products. It can even be used in household electric appliances for over-current and over-voltage protection.

The working principle of V05E17P is based on the property of semiconductor material which can change its resistivity with change of applied voltage. When applied voltage exceeds the specified threshold, the material changes its resistivity sharply at a very high speed. The speed of the change is so fast that the impulse voltage can be resistively diverted and absorbed. This results in the decrease of the voltage of the applied signal, reducing the potential damage to other components.

V05E17P minimizes voltage and current flows and eliminates transient overvoltage protection issues. By externally limiting the amount of energy and by clamps clamping the voltage, it saves equipment from damage due to cross-talk, lightning, and electrostatic discharge (ESD). It also reduces power consumption and power dissipation.
