V26MLA0603NHAUTO is a voltage and temperature compensated high performance varistor. It is an ideal solution for lightning protection applications, as it adapts to temperature variations and high temperature/high humidity environments. The maximum instantaneous let-through voltage is as low as 11.6 V and the clamping voltage is as low as 14 V. This reduces the risk of fires and loss of electrical circuits, circuits and equipment due to quick and unpredictable lightning events such as lightning strikes, line surges, etc.
V26MLA0603NHAUTO is designed to provide optimum protection for sensitive telecommunication equipment against lightning and surge transients. It features an improved clamping voltage for maximum protection and very low leakage current for superior noise immunity. The high performance varistor has an optimized packaging, extremely low resistance, high capacity to absorb transient energy and exceptional temperature stability at low resistivity.

Working Principle
V26MLA0603NHAUTO is based on the metal-oxide resistor (MOV) concept. In this application, a metal-oxide varistor (MOV) is connected across an external source of voltage. When the voltage across the MOV exceeds its breakdown voltage (VBR), an avalanche effect occurs in which the MOV absorbs energy proportional to the current that passes through the device. This leads to a reduction of voltage across the MOV. Because of this, a MOV can act as an excellent surge protection device.
The breakdown voltage VBR of the MOV depends upon its electrical properties such as temperature, junction type, and resistance values. For V26MLA0603NHAUTO, the breakdown voltage is 11.6 V and the clamping voltage is 14 V. The maximum let-through voltage is 8 V, meaning that the current through the MOV is limited to only 8 V during the surge protection event.
Furthermore, one of the advantages of V26MLA0603NHAUTO is that it features a low leakage current of less than 0.08 mA. This means that less noise is generated in the circuit while absorbing the energy, thereby further reducing the chance of system degradation during a surge. Additionally, it has an optimized packaging that improves the device’s thermal conductivity and further reduces the temperature rise during a surge.
