TVS (Transient Voltage Suppressor) diodes are nonlinear voltage-variable semiconductor elements that protect electrical components or systems from transient overvoltage phenomena caused by external sources, such as lightning or AC power line transients. The V26MLA1210T series is an advanced type of TVS diode and is designed to protect against common mode transients.The V26MLA1210T is typically used in the telecommunications and networking industry and can be used in applications to protect against Electrostatic Discharge (ESD), overvoltage and transient overvoltage. It can be used to protect against equipment from lightning damage and other external transients. Its applications are, but not limited to, communication systems, radio systems, DC and AC power systems, automotive electronics, and medical electronics. The working principle of the V26MLA1210T is based on its nonlinear operation. It is composed of a PN junction which, when connected directly to the circuit, acts as a current rectifying element. When an external transient voltage component is present, the PN junction is reversed biased and becomes a voltage-variable element. The direction of the current flow is determined by the magnitude of the applied voltage. As the transient voltage component increases, the current passing through the diode increases exponentially until it reaches its breakdown voltage. Once the breakdown voltage is exceeded, the current through the diode decreases sharply due to snapback recovery.The V26MLA1210T also features a unique two-stage protection mechanism. The first stage is triggered when the applied voltage exceeds the breakdown voltage of the diode, while the second stage is triggered when the current through the diode reaches its peak current rating. The two-stage protection provides maximum protection against external transient voltages and prevents the system from damage.As a result, the V26MLA1210T is a reliable solution for protecting against external transient voltages due to its two-stage protection, high surge withstand capability and fast response time. It is also able to withstand higher peak power levels compared to other transient voltage suppressors. In addition, the V26MLA1210T features low leakage current, low capacitance, and low leakage inductance, making it suitable for high speed data signals applications.
