The V26MLA1206A is a surface-mount Varistor-MOV hybrid device designed for use as a transient overvoltage protection element. It is intended for use over a broad range of DC and pulse power applications up to 28 VDC. Transient Voltage Suppressors (TVS) also known as Varistors or MOVs (Metal Oxide Varistors), are electrostatic nonlinear device designed to protect circuitry from high voltage transients. Varistors are usually multilayer ceramic devices that are connected in parallel to the protected equipment. When the voltage across the protected equipment increases above a certain level, the current through the varistor increases rapidly and activates the clamping action of the device. This process is fast and efficient and can protect components from voltage spikes, surges, lightning, electrostatic discharge, and other transient voltage events.
