TVS-Varistors, MOVs are used in protecting electrical devices in industrial applications. The TVS-Varistors, MOVs is a type of voltage-dependent resistor which can limit unwanted currents, prevent voltage transients, and reduce the possibility of breakdown in the device. The V47ZA20PX2855 is a varistor which is designed to provide fast response to high frequency transient voltages in automotive, industrial and other harsh environments.The V47ZA20PX2855 varistor features a compact size and is rated for high surge current (170amps) and a high clamping voltage (33V). This varistor is made of a zirconium solid-state material and is designed to protect against short term over voltage events. It is designed to limit short term voltage spikes so that the device being protected is not damaged. The V47ZA20PX2855 is best used in applications where the transient voltage is between 9V-27V and when the short term peak current is greater than 0.2A.The working principle of V47ZA20PX2855 is based upon the fact that it is a voltage dependent resistor (VDR). It has two terminals, one positive and one negative. When the voltage across these two terminals reaches a certain level, current flows through the device and it starts to behave like a resistor. The higher the voltage, the higher the current, and thus the higher the resistance of the device. This enables it to limit the voltage and current spikes within very short time periods.When exposed to a transient voltage, the V47ZA20PX2855 varistor will reduce the voltage across the terminals by providing an additional resistance to the current flow. This is done through its non-linear current-voltage characteristic which is determined by its zirconium-based composition. The varistor acts as a low-impedance path to divert the current due to the transient voltage away from the sensitive device. This significantly reduces the possibility of damage to the device due to voltage spikes.The V47ZA20PX2855 varistor is commonly used in applications such as computers, LED lighting, solar cells, appliances, consumer electronics, and automobiles. It is designed to provide fast response time to high-frequency transient voltages which allows the device to remain protected from damage.
