V575LC80B is a Varistor device used primarily for transient voltage surge and spike protection. It is a discrete Bidirectional Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) designed to protect two-wire and Component heatlines from transients in applications where ESD (electrostatic discharge), lightning and other forms of overvoltage transients, directly or indirectly coupled into the lines, may be expected.

The V575LC80B is a TVS Diode that operates as a metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) device. A MOS device is an insulated-gate field effect transistor that is used to protect voltage-sensitive components from electrostatic discharge, overvoltage surges, and transient voltage spikes. The protection mechanism occurs when voltage current exceeds the rated voltage of the MOS device, causing the MOS device to absorb some of the excess voltage, thus limiting the voltage that reaches the components.

The V575LC80B has an 11 Volt surge ratings and a 575 Volt working voltage and a maximum current of 80 Amps. It is available in two different package sizes (5mm x 5mm and 3mm x 4mm) and is manufactured with a low capacitance of 1.5pF. It has an operating temperature range of -55°C to +125°C, making it suitable for a wide range of applications including automotive, industrial, consumer, and medical applications.

Once the transient is over, the increased voltage then dissipates as heat due to the V575LC80B’s high internal resistance.

In the event of a positive transient, the V575LC80B will trigger and clamp the voltage to the device supply—preventing the excess energy from entering the device. In this case, the V575LC80B will absorb some of the energy, but it does not dissipate as much heat as with a negative transient.

The V575LC80B is an ideal solution for surge and overvoltage protection in a variety of applications, including consumer electronics, computers, telecommunications, and automotive systems.
